How to identify original OT2000?
« on: March 17, 2005, 12:03:47 pm »
Hi!

I think I have found an original ot2000 in really bad condition in Austria. Due to this bad condition it would be important to know if this is really an ot2000 or a 850Coupe, someone has modified several years ago. How can I find out reliably? (Chassis#, stamped in Numbers, etc.) I need to tell someone living near the car, it is to far away for me to just go there for a look

Best regards,
Gerald

I think the first thing is to look the motor. I think the type of th abarth motor is 236. And verify that it is not the fiat twin cam motor from à 124/132/...

Next look the suspension : double rear shock.

Do you have picture of if ?

Engine is missing, transmission still there. Thanks for the tip with the double rear shocks. How about Chassis#? Did the ot2000 have their own numbers, or were they only "regular" 850coupe numbers with an aditional "Abarthbadge"? I unfortunately have no pictures, I haven't even seen the car, but thats why I'm looking for Information before I go there and look at it.

Greetings & thanks!
Gerald

Sorry, I only know that it is a guy (hehe ;) ) from Austria, that will use a Fiat 850 Series 1 bodyshell to restore the OT2000

Just for future information, the 850 Couple chassis used for the 2000OT had significant body panel modifications to strengthen the interior panels of the engine compartment.  Somewhere I have photos of the example of Englebert Moell.

Paul
