Twin Cam Head for 850?
« on: February 10, 2005, 10:24:39 pm »
I have heard people in the past refer to a twin cam head for the 850/903 motor. Is there such a thing? If so where can I find information on them.
Thanks

some historical background on a related issue is at the PBS History header of the Fiat section of the website of PBS Engineering Garden Grove CA at www.pbseng.com. If you ever find an effective twincam for a 850/903 I'll try to get there first! Cheers

One was for sale on ebay very recently... along with most of an engine.... went for close to $10,000aud to a guy in Japan.... and the engine was incomplete!

So if you really want one, you had better have very deep pockets!!.

Sorry I had a look for the link on Ebay and it's gone.... but I have posted a picture of the item that was for sale
(no pistons/rods/timing chain etc)

Note that the PBS twin-cam head was not for the Fiat 850 engine, it was made for the Fiat 600/d engine. The PBS website mentions that the TC head (shown in your photo) was not effectively useable on the 850 engine, because the 850's bore spacing was larger vs. the 600/d engine.

Also note that the engine block shown in the photo is indeed a Fiat 600/d type (see the 600's oil filter housing mounting-flange located at bottom/center of the side of the engine).

the bore spacing for a 600d and an 850/903 are the same, the 1050 has the bores spread. and the pbs head might not work on that.
