Is my 1967 1000 ots positive ground?
« on: May 30, 2010, 04:23:56 am »
Im just getting deep in the rebuild of my 1000 ots coupe, but I was thrown when I found the red battery cable (under the hood) goes straight to the body...
This car also has a generator...
Any thoughts or warnings for me?
BTW, I brought the auxillary fan and mount (lucas, made in england!) to work today to clean it up., and was amazed to find that despite it's age, it works perfectly!
It is marked "E" (earth?) on one of the poles, and the fan blade spims in the same direction, regardless of polarity!
The fan came out really nice, this is turning into a fun project...every part restored or fixed feels like a victory!
I have a long way to go, and  it can get discourging, but I try to remind myself that there are a finite number of parts to this car, just keep "pressing on", as Terry Thomas once said!

Hi Chris,

Sounds like good progress.  It's a standard 12 V negative ground system unless somebody did some serious mods!
