Diesel,
If you tell us who you are ? and where you are you ? you will stand a better chance of learning how to fit a motor buiilt for a Fiat 850 gearbox into a car with a Fiat 600 gearbox. And some other cheaper and easier options.....

Hi Diesel,

That engine is a rare piece, I would love to see it reunited with somebody's 1000 OT that doesn't have one.

You would have to reverse the rotation of an 850-based engine.  Maybe a well-built 600 D engine or a 124 pushrod engine would be a nice clockwise rotation engine for your 600?

I would get a copy of Greg Schmidt's Fiat tips and tricks if I were you! That is a great crank and block for what you are getting ready to do but you could trade that motor for 2-3 other motors (its good to have spares) which would work better and somebody would be very happy to have that motor for their 850 based Abarth car. My guess is you want a 965 or 1050 for your project. I used a 903 out of a 1072 Fiat 850 spider and then used PBS gear drive for the cam. There are many ways to do what you want. Make sure you up date the oiling in what ever motor you do wind up using. If you use the later motors 965 and 1050 need very little tuning. Once again get a copy of Greg's tip's and tricks. What a great find on the motor and crank !!

Parts for these in the US...

Hi Paul Vanderheijden from Scuderia Topolino here.

This is precisely the block/crank combination that I use in my race car.  I have two of them.  It is not difficult to do.  1) you can get a CW cam and distributor drive, or 2) you can put in a gear drive kit and keep the cam and distributor drive that is already in the car.

Another good block crank combination is a 903 block (65mm) with a 1050 crank.  Again, two ways to do it.  1) line-bore the block for the larger main bearings, or 2) grind crank for smaller main bearings and have it tuff-trided.  I have done it both ways with several customers.

Let me know if you need any or additional help, or visit my website www.scuderiatopolino.com.  Take a look at the Forum or look at the technical help section.

Regards
Paul
