tie rods
« on: September 26, 2008, 02:07:47 am »
Hi all, I have a question regarding my 1956 fiat 600. I changed the front brakes over to disc brakes from a 850. I bought all new tie rods and realized that the tie rods closest to the steering knuckle was still loose after tightening it. Very sloppy actually. My question is, do I need tie rod ends from a 850?  Does anyone know where I could get them? Thanks,Brian

Hi, you need to have patience around this place....  Sometimes replies take days, weeks or even months!

You will need to change over to 850 tie rod ends.  You can get these from Obert & Co. in California.  I might suggest asking on www.mirafiori.com as a couple of  people there know where to find some of the 600 & 850 parts.  You could also try the Fiat 850 Yahoo email newsgroup, which come to think of it, might be a better source of info.

I think you can also use a 124 tie rod that is easy to find.
