131 fiat abarth works cars.

I see in a lot of  magazines or webpages :
for sale  ex works car  with a photo and sometimes I think they know what they wish to resell or what they are reselling .

I have now two real ex works cars (131) and one country car in our place and I see directly the difference what other persons say.

So my idea was to place this on this site so everbody can control it for himself.
Also one of the first things you must remember: if it is very nice and clean, all nice fender, all almost no signs of accident, all fit nice , then I think it's not a real (even with old abarth's) rally car.
All the rallycar were used till the end and then they were sold to country teams or club teams or remade to stradale versions and sold.
But here is the list. If there is something missing , like on safaricars , the moduls of ignition inside before the co-driver seat or the car krik (truck type inside right) I wish to know this .

Dear Guy,

Fantastic initiative!! I was just on the phone with a seller of a gr4 who told me of a fake gr4 that was sold to Spain for 90k. I assume you know this car as well. Apart from whether this is true, it proves your point in sharing with others what the differences are.

But I cannot read the info since the files are too small. Could you save them in a higher resolution??

I am in the process of buying a 131 stradale. But sometimes I am amazed how different a works car is from the stradale. It seems that you better start with a normal 2door body if you want to build a rally car. But I am a bit afraid for the final costs of such a project.

they are two different cars and  I think they did not made more then 50/60 cars .in gr 4 version

Peter, I cannot see Guy's list with differences very good, but I am quite sure that 'all the bits and pieces' are not obtainable for 50k. I have spoken to some genuine 131 gp4 owners now and I really believe there is not much in common between a stradale and a gr4. Maybe somebody can answer this: a stradale was made from a bare 2door shell from the production line. A gr4 is not made from a stradale, but also from a bare 2d from the production line. Meaning they do not have to have anything in common apart from the basic shell. Is that correct.

And Guy, could you update us indeed on the price level for your cars?

the south afrika car is a mix from Fiat South Afrika factory and BMW  South Afrika (the where the same)  The body is from Fiat Italy  with a Safari kit on ,very nice done .All suspention parts are mostly  Abarth gr4 Rear axle BMW ,Engine Abarth  16 V carb.gearbox 131 abarth, dashbord gr 4 ,right hand drive,Car was use for rally and exihibistions,Rollcage and two original  gr 4 tarmac rallyseats Price is now 44000 euro  In south Afrika there where tree of this cars .,one was fitted with the fiat 130 engine and had in the begin the boble in bonnet in the midle ,but the car diddend stop and the change to 16 valve  131 engine

I must thanks Erwin and Peter and I am happy to see it  on this magazine ,some persones will not like this but Its my Forum .Nex will be the 124 gr 4 abarth and will give even more respons because the are more cars on the earth that Fiat Abarth Corse even made .OK ,I make also gr 4 our Abarth  but I say always that it a remake our rebody(when it is so) and I dont resale our say its a real(what is this ???????????)The most imported thing is that you have fun in your live,the rest must do what the wish to do our say  (some thinking of me ,sorry)

Guy, CHAPEAU!!
Really fantastic that you are open in this. Especially for a car with its origins in Italy this is quite rare. Italians like a bit of smoke around their projects. Which is a compliment as well. That is why we like them and their products! A real joy. But I have to say that getting information about a competition porsche or rallye audi is very straightforward. Public records with chassis numbers everywhere.

I have driven 4 years in a 911   1965    2 years legal and have nice  results  (5 and 5 in international championship G.B ) and than come to Belguim and if you did have a 2700 instad of the 2000 cc ,the where always( sory ,not always ) faster  So you must go the same way and than it was 50% brooks our winning.It was a nice car

Hello:)
Can someone tell me the difference between an 131 rally, and an 131 Stradale?  I have 2 131 2 doors chassie and want to built me an replica. One of them are an 1980 racing and the other is an 1977 131 1300. The Racing chassie have a lot of rust, so i think the easiest way is to use the 77 1300.... The racing chassie have the rally replice fenders with trunk and hood.

Hi Guy, welcome back! i hope your 'revision' went well!!

Question about the list of modifications: '10mm wheel spacers with studs instead of bolts'. I noticed I have these on my stradale as well. So that should not be standard? Another thing I noticed was that I have the possibility to fit a second pair of calipers on the rear uprights. For the hydraulic hand brake of course. Is that on all stradales?

Then I told you I broke a rear driveshaft. I measured the shaft, 25-26mm diameter on the smallest part, but what I did not understand is why there are two spacer rings going over the (long) splines. These will be between the 'colar' of the shaft and the inner part of the CV-joint and are both 2cm wide. Like the shaft had to be lengthened 4cm. Would you know whether that was for homologation reasons?

Wow Guy, this is cool!!

I have not been too busy with my red abarth lately. But this triggers me again! One thing I need urgently is an exhaust system. Preferably one that is a bit quieter than what I have now. I noticed the exhaust in the document you just posted has no middle damper. Would a stradale have that?

normale not ,but because whe will build it in house it possible to ad one .The 124 abarth version is also no middle demper and it is not so noisy

So originally there is no middle damper? If so, it would probably be best to go for a better rear damper then. There is a huge difference in noise between my red one and the blue one you have there. Maybe it is the 185bhp that makes it noisy?
