AEW Newsletter Issue 06 – 28 February 2007

Good day Abarth enthusiasts,

Hopefully you have all been waiting for this new issue of the newsletter to appear.
The reactions on the last one were very encouraging and to be honest that makes
spending time on the AEW easier. We received new information, suggestions,
questions etc, which will make their way to the newsletter and www.aewsite.com
in due time.

Over the past few weeks a lot of work has been done behind the scenes, most of
which is probably not visible to the naked eye. One of the big jobs was transferring
the AEWsite to a new server. This might sound like an easy task, but in the end it
took a lot of effort from members Chris Shoemaker and Pawel Sokolowski to
transfer everything, make all the information available again and also arrange the
paperwork involved in domain names etc.
Georganne Sahaida updated the database and helped several of you to fully enjoy
the website and forum. Still, we are not sure if all the email-addresses in our
database are up-to-date, so please contact AEW members around you to see if they
received this newsletter. Next up will be updating and improving the website, which
we hope to do in the next few months.

We have decided to run a limited “Parts and Cars” listing in the next newsletter.
The last Parts and Cars-listing dates from a long time ago and because the forum
hasn’t come up to speed, we have decided to offer the possibility to place a (small)
ad in the newsletter. Currently we are working out new ideas to improve the forum
and hopefully we can introduce the improved forum in the next few months, which
will than offer a good place for your ads. If you want your ad to appear in the next
newsletter in April 2007, send it to the newsletter email-address.
Please provide your name, contact information, location (country and/or province)
and a short description of the article you have for sale. You can mention a price, but
please remind that the AEW is a worldwide club when stating the currency and
contact information. Of course the Parts and Cars listing is not only meant for
selling products, but also the place when you are looking for specific parts or a
restoration project.

Now I can get to the URL of the site, but I get the message "The domain aewsite.com has expired.". I have no idea what's going on with AEW at this point. ???

Someone did not pay the bill!   ;-)

But the domain is not for grabs.
It is still on hold.

I know how difficult it is to run a free service ( -> www.reKup.net (http://www.reKup.net) ),
maybe some people can jump in and support this initiative?
Just a random thought from a colleague-webchef...

Hi Jeff, Grant and Erwin,

For the past week access to the AEWsite and forum was not possible, due to a problem with our domain. I can think of a hundred excuses, but in the end the true reason was that we forgot to pay this years fee. :-() The website is back online since yesterday.

A big thanks to Joe Parlanti and Chris Shoemaker for sorting this out and bringing us back "in the air".

Erwin/Alex,

I tried to log in to the AEW forum (using link at bottom/right of site page), but I get a message that says:

"Ok faithful users "FORUM IS CLOSED" ... look on AEWSITE.com for new Abarth forum".

I went back & looked, but there is no mention anywhere on the AEW site home page of a "new forum".???

Also, when I try to log on to the site, I get a message that says my username and/or password is invalid. ??? Help!

Jeff,

Indeed our old forum has been closed down a few months ago and a new forum has been integrated into the AEWsite, so you only have to logon once, in stead of twice.

I will contact you offline to help you with the login matter.

Alex,
Thanks for your help. The link to the new forum is only found AFTER I log in, that's why I didn't see it before. I am able to log in now, as well. :)

Cheers,
