Yes, a PBS head will be a nice but spendy addition.  Depends on what you want out of it.  If you want a nice street car, it's been suggested to me that a ported/polished/flowed a112 head would be a less expensive way to go.

With a little motor like this, I would imagine that most gains will come from the head, but I would drop Paul a line at http://scuderiatopolino.com [nofollow] ....He knows his stuff, and there is a world of info on his site.  Oh, and he has lots of toys and goodies for your car.  :)

Good luck.

what about a transformation on the stock head, like the one on the chardonet A112?
There is no place like 127.0.0.1 :)

Ask PBS. They are great and sometimes know of cheap stuff. In fact they sometimes they will have used motors to sell or have a customer who wants to sell an old 1000cc boat motor. I have never used the A112 motor but I would guess you could mill the block down and make it work great with the PBS head.
What can I test for you?

Hello all,

Paul Vanderheijden with Scuderia Topolino here.

The PBS 8-P head will work quite well with the A112 block (903, 965 or 1050).  Of course just adding the head will not get you 100+ HP.  I have been building these engines for many years and the best I have EVER done is 114 HP.  This was on a motor with 13.8:1 compression with a full race cam and turning 8000+ RPM on 108 octane fuel.

It is possible to get very good power though for the street with very smooth engine performance.  As the best gasoline (petrol) that we can get reliably is around 95-98 octane, this will in itself limit how much power we can produce reliably.

We run a complete computerized engine dynamometer facility and can supply the parts to build almost anything you would like.

Drop me a line, or post you question here and I will be pleased to answer you.

Kind regards,

Paul Vanderheijden
