What steel rims (cerchi) are these, what hub caps do I need?
« on: December 27, 2013, 02:03:40 pm »
hello,
I own a set of 3,5x12"-rims (made by Fergat in 1962) of which I think, they were made for Zagato or Allemano cars. I want to put them on my 600.
Can anyone tell me, what special rims they are and to what car the formarly belonged?

And: I ask myself what hubcaps there have to be mounted on it.
I tryed a (german) Fiat 600 Jagst hubcap but I think, that 600 hubcap is to big.

Can anyone help me and tell what rims that are and what hupcaps there have to be mounted?

If they were made in 1962, then they'd likely be for any Fiat 600D-based car. Would fit any derivative of that car, like Fiat, Abarth, Allemano, Siata, Giannini, Zagato, etc..

The hubcap you tried looks to be the correct type (see first photo below).

If you want a more refined appearance, you might try fitting a Series 2 type Abarth 750 hubcap (normally used with the 7-vent steel wheels), it's a smaller cap & the edges fit flush with the surface of the wheel, rather than above/over the center like the Fiat/Jagst 600 hubcap as you have tried. Unfortunately, they are not as common as the Series 1 hubcap (pie-plate type base with 3-ear "spinner" center cap), so may be a little harder to find. (see second photo below)

Hello Jeff,
thanks for your reply!

The problem with the early Fiat-600-hubcaps is that they seem to be too big in diameter. Probably the holes in my rims are bigger than the holes in the 850TC-rims you have shown.
I think, for my rims the caps should be about 2cm or more smaller than the 1st-series-fiat-600-caps...
The second ones you posted seem to be better for my steel rims....

I hope I get some nice caps sometime...

Jeff, a few month ago I have written you a PM. Have you read it? I had some questions about my "derivazione-ABARHT-750" project: building a engine as you could do it with a "cassetta trasformazione 750" from a early 633ccm-engine ;-)

The hubcaps that Guy just posted photos of are what was more commonly used on these wheels. The hubcap was a standard Fiat 600/600D type with the red/silver (brass) Abarth scorpion emblem mounted to the center covering the Fiat logo.

There was also a slightly smaller hubcap offered, more similar in size & style to the early Fiat 600 (Series 1) hubcap. This is the one I was talking about in my previous post, it's about 7.5" in diameter & fits a bit more evenly with the surface of the wheel center.

Here are some photos of this hubcap on an old Abarth 750 7-vent steel wheel I have, & what they look like on the car:

hello Guy,
hello Jeff,

thanks for your replies and your photos. They help me very much!
On Guy's photos you can see (if comparing with mine), that the holes in the 850TC-rims are smaller than the holes in my rims.

@ Jeff: your hubcaps seem to fit my rims... But your rims would fit my car too... ;-)
I'm looking for original Abarth parts for my Fiat 500 and Fiat 600 (want to build a derivazione 750).

please email me, if you want to sale... Thank you!
