Fiat X1/9 Abarth Prototypo
« on: September 09, 2003, 07:55:39 am »
Hello,

does someone know, how many Abarth Prototypes of the X1/9 were produced?
I have the information of 5 Cars, S/N 23001 to 23005, Number Plates TO L 65335, 65336, 65337, TO H 02940 and Prova TO 5099 (for Test in german "Autosprint" in 1991). I know that Macaluso ownes one original car, does someone know if the number plate is VC 420157? FAZA in USA offered a Strada-Version of this car, was it really produced by Abarth or is this a replica?
I am also interested in any information about Fiat X1/9 Dallara Group 5.

Regards, Alex

Hello Guy,

thanx for your reply. Who is Volta? Macaluso sold his car? I know, that he also ownes an original Dallara. I heard from an X1/9 Abarth Prototypo, standing in a Showroom of a car trader in Japan. Here some picture of the Strada-Abarth-X1/9:

I will send an E-Mail to nostalgia club, hope they will answer me. If you have pictures of a Protoypo, I would be very interested!

Best regards, Alex

Prototipo photographs.

Have found a great site that has a pretty good collection of pictures of the cars (29 pictures in total).  These were used in Phil Ward's book.

You can download a self-extracting archive of these pictures from http://www.the-lair.demon.co.uk/pics.exe [nofollow]

Hope these are of use and interest, but the number plates of the cars were often changed/swapped over their life, as was often the case in an active rally department etc.

Hello David,

thank you very much, this are great pictures! I have the book of Phil Ward, not all pictures from the file are from this book. I believe there are also some from Jeremy Walton's "Fiat X1/9".  But I don't have this... Do you know the owner of this X1/9 racing car?

@Guy: Would be interested in these fotos. Did you built up your X1/9 Abarth Replica by these pictures? It is an absolutely well done car and one of the best Replicas I've ever seen!

Regards, Alex
