Gearboxes to suit OT Replica Cars

Rubino:
Hello all!
The past couple of months I have been looking at gearbox selection available to complete my OT (berlina) , Guy here I think likes the Porsche 901 series of boxes for the size, ratio's and how many have been used in the past ,also a Fiat 850 box turned upside down as Abarth themselves have done, In Australia we have a short supply of #901 gearboxes and even harder to find in good condidtion, as it is hard finding most parts that are readilly available in Europe!
I have a old (early 1990s) vw gearbox conversion from a previous Fiat twincam to 850 project done here, not happy with most of the conversion, yes it did work but with issues. This forum has been very good for infomation on my project "OT" but with many ways of doing the same job I have to find a way forward with parts easy to find and hopefully in reasonable condition, I have found this on another forum for Fiat group cars, this subaru gearbox shop will sell a reverse crown and pinion set for rear engine vehicles!

http://subarugears.com/

I don't have the knowledge on Subaru gearboxes for strength or ratios, but think they are 30 years younger with parts available here and do know how easy they are to find in any condition !
So far have found these gearboxes used on Fiat 850's - Skoda130, VW type3 (4speed), Porsche 911 early and late(#901) and now Subaru!
I look forward to your thoughts on subaru and any other gearboxes used!

Rubino:
I know that through the '80s in Australia, the Renault 16 gearbox was most used for rear engined Fiat and Vw conversions, later the Reno' 21 and 25 Gearboxes, is there any other type used? ....is the hard to get Porsche #901 the King of rear engine type gearboxes?
Rubino.

guy moerenhout:
Renault 5  was on a moment populare
I recive  complete plans  to build in , but promis  not to place on internet

Rubino:
Thanks Guy , Reno' 5 was never sold in Aus' so second hand box will not be available here, are the Reno' 8 or 10 any good? they are rear engine cars that were sold here.
Regards, Rubino
