843 maximum bore
« on: September 14, 2012, 10:39:46 pm »
Hello, I'm new to the forum and rebuilding an 850 special as a "replica" ot1000. I want to give it a bit more power and already have a set of 67mm pistons.
Question is; can the 850 block be bored out to 67mm? I know it can be offset bored to 67.2, but would a bore of 67mm take me into water jackets, etc.?
The pistons are made by GPM, Italy and are intended for a bore size of 67mm - they are actually slightly smaller (forgot to make a note of actual dia. when measuring them) and have "dia. cyl. 67mm" stamped on the crown.
Assuming they could be used, what would be the best way to "stroke" the engine.
Would a 903 crankshaft, 843 conrods and my 67mm pistons work? In theory this would give me 960cc.
Any advice appreciated.
