Another Abarth 850TC vs Fiat 600 on eBay
« on: March 13, 2012, 11:41:21 pm »
Here is anther one that certainly looks more legit. This has been up a couple times now and the seller claims that it is an Abarth. It certainly has some of the right parts on it.

Thanks,
Mike

The seller writes: "this 600D, which was made according to the Abarth 850 Cassetta, ...".

So he is cleverly not saying it's an original one, just suggesting it

Not a legit Abarth, just another 600D/E chassis with a few "Abarth" parts (real & repro) put on it. Also, the VIN corresponds to a late-1966/1967 chassis, a very late car to have such tame modifications done to it.

Repro front grille, with side whiskers installed too low. Repro hood ornament. 600E/R type bumper overriders. Incorrect front fender emblems, wrong type & placement of script emblems on rear decklid, wrong placement of rubber T-straps on front & rear, fake "Abarth 850" engraved switch plate & "Abarth" stamped exhaust surround plate (both never existed), "Corsa" type gauge housing in a "Stradale" car? Mismatched gauges. Fiat 1500 type tach-drive fitting on timing chain cover rather than Abarth type on distributor. No rear decklid props? Alloy radiator fan is missing 4 blades.

The ad goes on about "a front oil radiator, front brake discs", but this car has neither. It also states the car "is in an excellent condition from all points of view", but the floor mats are grimy, many interior items have surface rust/grime (ashtray, switch plate, gearshifter, e-brake lever, etc.), & the engine bay is dirty & has 2-3 different colors of paint that is cracking badly everywhere.

No mention of what engine it has (Fiat 600D? Fiat 850?), nor any engine modifications done besides the visible larger carb & 4-2 exhaust.

The seller told me its 95% real,'according to Guy....?' But has no paperwork.I was then told if the car had paperwork the price would be 10,000 euros higher.
The steeringwheel looks like Alfa Romeo not Abarth amongst other details.Just my opinion.
Please note it is the seller that makes such claims NOT  GMR.

The sellers response to me as I was interested in buying a real Abarth...."Goeiemorgen
Vriendelijke groeten" (I removed the sellers name)

good morning Grant, its the opposite what I told . The car is mayby a nice  remake but not a abarth even  not from the box . Mayby only  km counter and speedinstrument are like abarth and there now  nice remakes to .
The difference  from some persons is that I say when it a  remake ,our  with some  real parts  made and others not . Its a nice remake  but build  not by a abarth expert.
I have send him a mail ,that for me its even not build  with the original parts  from a accident beacause I dont see the original  parts even wheels  are not the old ones.

Thanks Grant

This is what seller(France) tels  from the car ,so NOT   a factory abarth made.  Even  for me its  a general info ,never  he go for me tho this car.
