My ot2000 Replica Project
« on: August 16, 2010, 09:54:52 pm »
Hello

After some time reading in the forums here and enjoing it I finally got the time and room in my workshop to look at my project .. i have a loong way ... im working fulltime and studying at the same time ... so i will have very slow progress in a long time (also still needs some tools)

My project consists of 2 fiat 850 coupe type 1  ..
     one with papers..
one as spares (never any metal repairs done)
(i wonder if anyone has good enuogh contacts to find the papers, i think it was from italy,
i have found a loophole where i could get new papers, but i would pefer the real ones)

Engines:
     tc130 engine,
     2 other engines (i think 1600)
one of the small original engines (i think)
there is a box with 5 camshafts
     double weber and solex
     reverse starter engine
alu sump with abarth written on it

Brakes
     2 new disks
used calipers 2 diffent types that should usefull for disks on all 4 wheels

metal parts:
     fiberglass wing extensions
     used hood
new back part (the removeble part behind the engine)
     new floorpanels
rollcage (not sure i wish to use it for racing)

there is a pile of other stuff ... the guy that sold the project had been collecting the parts for many years.

I have a few questions

I would like to have a copy of all the pictures that people have of the real OT2000 so i have a chance to make it as close to as possible. all the pictures will be for me only. will you please share ?

Are the bodyshell numbers stambed in more than one place ? (one of the cars its hard to read)

Anyone have good advice where to start and what will be the most importent stuff to get things right ?

What not to do !

Regards
Jens

hallo Jens,I think you find most info in our forum.Your biggest problem will be gearbox.Go for the 911 gearbox otherwise you will have alway broken parts .Weld the two parts togheter like you will see in 1300OT file on forum .The gearbox adapt very good with the fiat engine and cluth you can use fiat

Hi Fred, ok yes, but first I am restoring the 850s2 coupe with the SOHC Suzuki head (ex- Group G) Rally car that was worn out and in bad need of repair, everything!

Hi Rubin,

I've had just the same cilinderhead, because the idea is great and it works!!
But I never started that project.

The technical part of this car is really great. Just the Fiat block and the Suzuki head, no special pistons or something like that?

Well I hope that you and Renato will send more photo's and info about the other projects as topics at this forum!!

Groet,
Fred

Hi Fred, Yes this did work well, we got 114hp from a standard bore/stroke 903cc 127 Series-1 block. no use putting a post on forum for this 850 as it is not an Abarth or replica Abarth, just a performance upgrade by myself desperate to beat bigger engined cars!
no special pistons, but a cosworth grind camshaft , twin 40DCOEs and hand made exhaust, made it go and sound like a Ducati 900 Desmo!
take a look at my website page on this and let me know what you think Sir! ,  http://bm-autohaus.com.au/?page_id=1763

Hey Rubin, I like the update with the suzuki head.

are you willing to share info on the car on the via 850 forum?
newbielink:http://www.via850.nl/forum/ [nonactive]

We have gathered with around 30 fiat 850 enthousiasts?

great car!

Hi cees de borst ,
I have just tried to register with that forum, it must take awhile to go through before I can log on as it won't let me in now. will try later ,this is a good idea as that sohc 850 it not an Abarth or Replica anything!
Regards, Rubin
