Owner of the Simca Abarth restoration project in Beaune?
« on: May 26, 2004, 12:04:48 pm »

Who is the owner of the Simca Abarth restoration project displayed in Beaune?

On the Meeting in Beaune there was a red Simca Abarth 2000 (?) which was very incomplete. It did have the engine, but missed gearbox, dashboard clocks, headlights etc. etc. Later on I heard that the car was for sale. But who is the owner of the car and what price should I think of?
Was it an Englishman?

Can anyone enlighten me on this subject?

Alex van de Wetering

p.s. I had a great weekend at the Abarth meeting!

Alex

The owner of the Simca is Simon Lynes who was at Beaune!  He is on the forum and I will get him to email you.

On another note I have the Abarth X1/9 Prototipo -  did you have the Blue Abarth Allemano on the trailer?

We did speak but I did not know who you where!!!!

Email me back etc siince it would be good to have more infomation on the X1/9 Prototipo etc.

David,

Thanks for your reaction. I would love to hear more about the Simca Abarth. I was thinking what price I should think of, for such a restoration project.....Allthough I am sure I can't afford it.

I think you are mistaking me for someone else. I am the owner of one of the two red Autobianchi A112 Abarths that were displayed in Beaune....

I also have another A112 Abarth and a Fiat 500 which I am transforming into an Replica Abarth 695 SS.

Don't you also own a Giannini 590 GT, or am I also mistaking....?

Thanks, Alex

Yes I own the Simca Abarth.  I will be buried dead or alive in my car.
I love it more than anything else I posses except for my other Simca Abarth ex Targa Team car.
Sorry!
P.S I do have the instruments but no engine or gearbox.
The engine that you saw was just for show and was out of my other car.
I took the car to the event in the hope that somebody might be able to ID it?
as it was a 1300 that was changed to 2000 litre or possible the other way round 2000 litre -1300 with 5 bearing engine????
It has two chassis numbers *109* and *112* stamped onto of each other
Regards Simon Lynes

Simcaman/Simon Lynes,

Good to hear that you are planning to restore the car. I can only dream of such a car.
Last weekend I was at an historic race-event at Monza. At this event there also was a parts market. Between al the parts I also found Jaeger dash-clocks and an "Oil-tank" (the tank at the right side of the engine) of an Abarth Simca. I hope you have allready got these?

Could you send me an personal email? I would love to hear more about your car/cars and maybe I can help finding some of the missing parts???

Bye, Alex van de Wetering, The Netherlands
