in car views of 850TC replica in California
« on: March 04, 2009, 05:48:17 pm »
I have posted some video taken inside my car and some views of it:

It is hard to tell in the video but the car rotates just slightly when I lift off the throttle.  Just enough to know you have control over the car and be fun.

Waaay cool Jim!  What is the reaction from other drivers when you fly past them?  What's your car like to drive with the 1050 in it?  Can you feel a little more torque with the greater crank stroke?

I have not driven a car with a normal 600 or 850 engine for so long I can't really compare directly.
My recollection of my stock 850 Coupe is that this car is about twice as powerful.   With 80 hp in a 1200lb car this would make sense compared to 47hp in a 1600lb car.
From stoplights it takes off like a scalded rabbit and all the other traffic is way behind me when I look in my mirror.
After the usual left turn from the arrow-controlled lanes we have here in LA I'm usually halfway down the block by the time the car behind me gets out of the intersection.

When I notice them, people tend to smile and point at the car.
I'm usually too focused on driving to be paying too much attention to people in cars around me.

This car is a total hoot to drive, although the race suspension does tend to beat you up a bit unless the road is perfectly smooth.
