If this car ever was an Abarth it has been completely ruined. ID plate not genuine. Nothing looks original Abarth to my eye and I have a 695SS. Fenders done with lead so 500 ponds heavier? That's a desirable feature!! Why do people feel compelled to advertise their junk as an original Abarth?

 Even an idiot like me can see that it's a new (reproduction) plate, and the information in the stamped numbers/letters is completely wrong.

just had some kind of revelation while driving: maybe the seller doesn't kinow that "real" abarths exist? maybe he thinks that everything that is tuned, prepared, upgraded or whatever, becomes an abarth...in german abart (without h) is a variation, variety of something....maybe this is an explanation how someone can call something like this an abarth...how can someone bid 19 000 $ for something like this anyway....

I just hope it wasn't an original Abarth that was ruined like this.
The bid price is only surprising because of the world economy-- at the Monterey, California auctions 2 years ago I saw fake Abarth 695s sell for the low $20ks.
It only makes sense because it would cost even more to find a trashed 500 and recreate what is for sale.
