Wanted ABARTH Exhaust System for 1960 Austin Healey 3000 BT7
« on: March 09, 2004, 10:49:37 pm »
Dear Forum-
I have been searching high and low for a NOS ABARTH Exhaust System for my 1960 Austin Healey 3000 BT7. Can anyone out there please point me in the direction of someone that might have such an exhaust system? I know it's a long shot but your help would certainly be much appreciated.
Best Regards,
Matt Wilson-
P.S.  Sorry for accidently also posting this note in the "For Sale" listing area.  I do not have an exhaust that s for sale but rather I am looking to buy  :)

Have you tried "crazy" Al Cosentino at FAZA in Thousand Okas, California, US??
I specialize in obscure French and Italian small displacement racing cars, from circa 1930 through 1970

Yes I have spoken with Al Cosentino and sadly he does not have a NOS System for the Austin Healey 3000.  I am trying to work with him to see if we can create an Abarth Exhaust system from Abarth odds and ends.  Thanks for your tip though  :D

Just what is shown in the old Road and Track magazine Abarth advertisements.  The photos are pretty clear.  Of course dimensions and lengths are not there.

Actually I don't see how I can.  These are full page advertisements and I don't want to cut them out of the magazine.  I can tell you that these Abarth ads are pretty specific.  Meaning sometimes they have just one exhaust featured such as the December 1960 Magazine featuring the Austin healey 3000 and 100/6 Exhaust.  Other times it'll show four exhausts for four different makes.  Obviously with smaller pictures.  There is a guy on the East Coast that is an engineer that is trying to re-create the old Abarth systems.  He has disassembled several Abarth mufflers and he is working on developing a replica.  I am not crazy about a replica but if that's all I can get then that's all I can get.  Hey if I had a scanner I would scan this for you but sadly I don't :(

Read the correspondence - if Guy has a copy of Cosentino's Faza catalogue  I think no.4 (no date or ref on it) it is on page 84 there is picture of the exhaust.
It is also shown on the Abarth newspaper/poster (Times newspaper size - 4 pages) on the rear page.

I will try and scan it if I can.
