engine ID help please
« on: April 17, 2008, 01:33:23 am »
Hi -
I used to have an Abarth engine, which I sold.
It was an inline 6cyl, and it had dual 38mm Weber DCOE carbs on it.
Well, I kept the carbs when I sold the engine 20+yrs ago, and I still haven't used those Weber sidedraft carbs, and I'm considering offering them for sale now.
But now I can't find any info on the original engine except that I'm certain it was an Abarth inline 6cyl.
It would be very helpful, I believe, to at least ID the engine when I offer the carbs for sale.
Does anyone know have any info about this?

Thanks for any and all help - BK

Perhaps from a Ghia-bodied Fiat/Abarth 2300S Coupe?

Sure enough!
Thank you - I tried googling Abarth 2.3 and found nothing - I was pretty sure it was a 2.3l though.
I'll be auctioning that pair of 38DCOEs on Ebay soon, should anyone be interested.

Abarth never made an inline 6 motor.Although they did modify the Fiat 2300 motor to both 2200 and 2400 cc and fit it to some of their much underrated cars. The long blocks all look the same.Naturally there was a range of sumps and carb options (Abarth).Search this forum and you should find some pics.Grant
