« on: March 04, 2008, 05:53:37 pm »
Hello: I want to know how can I made the narrow rear fenders in a 1000 TCR. Do anybody have photos of the process?.
I will try to upload a pair of photos of what I want to do. I hope I can upload them

I have never seen much info. on how it was done.  I believe that they were hammered out by hand, as opposed to being made from fiberglass.  I have a pair of them in fiberglass though, and I was going to use them as a pattern to hand hammer them out. You would still need to do some modification of the inner wheel well, not only for clearance, but to get tools and hands in there.

Hi Gil,
I did a set of such small flares once as follows:-
a)  remove outer half of inner wheel tubs by drilling out spot welds from centerline of wheel tub and from wheel arches
b)  shape (hammer out) external guard metal to small flare profile ...........the limit is thin-ness of stretched metal across the wider profile
c)  stiffen edge of wheel arch with 6mm rod shaped to original wheel arch profile
d) shape removed wheel tub half(s)  to the wider profile
e) reweld in the inner wheel tub
f) fibreglass inside tubs for dust and water tightness and rust protection.

A progfessional panel-beater might have a simpler method using power hammers

For me never again........ A long slow and tedious process..........It became obvious why fibreglass wide fenders with simple cuts through panels and tubs  became the norm

Hi Guy,

Really like the stripes on the front and side of that car, are they original and if so, to what spec car?

Very interesting, Guy. But, .... how you fit them?. You have to replace the metal ones with this, cuting the metal?

It seems to be a ´67 spec car replica.
