sequential gearbox
« on: December 07, 2007, 02:23:27 pm »
hello

i am building a replica of a fiat Abarth, it is definetly not original but i would like to know wether somebody knows where i can get a sequential gearbox 5 speed or 6 speed to be fitted on a A112 engine. preferably without body modifications. i know that Paul Van der Heijden has a full dog box engagement.

thank you

Hi

A sequential gearbox is possible, but it would require a major rework of the internals.  Most sequential gearboxes have ALL of the movable elements on the same shaft.  This is not the case with the Fiat transaxle.  Then you still have to accommodate reverse gear.

Bacci Romano currently make a sequential gearbox for the Fiat 500.  The cost is over 12,000 Euro !!  It is not substantial enough for use with in a 1000TC automobile in my opinion.
